Leadwork

As heritage and listed building specialists, we have developed a dedicated lead working service.

A number of our employees are trained to the highest level and we are committed to preserving this traditional skill, which is in rapid decline.

Heritage properties often incorporate lead facets into their original design and we aim to replicate as many as possible, to preserve architectural authenticity. Our craftsmen can advise on the wide range of applications for lead and their broad knowledge includes dressing, bossing and welding.

Speaking volumes

We install more than 100 tonnes of lead each year, ranging from flashings to decorative finials, roof and wall cladding and bespoke rainwater goods.

These details are created from all different types of the material, including milled, rolled, machine cast and traditional sand cast lead.

Our work sits on buildings of note across the country, such as Nottingham and Bolsover castles, Lincoln Cathedral and the museum housing the Magna Carta at Lincoln Castle, as well as numerous churches and cathedrals.

We also participate regularly in skills days to promote and preserve leadwork among the public and specifiers.

Industry excellence

Our surveyors and management team have all undertaken leadwork training and can advise on specification, to ensure your detailing complies with current legislation.

As in all aspects of our business, the safety of lead workers is of paramount importance and welding is carried out under the strict conditions imposed by Hot Work Permits. Our employees also have regular health screening, to ensure we are complying with necessary regulations.
