About Us
Committed to quality
Formed in 1984 by Gerald Brooks and Jeremy Martin, Martin-Brooks started life with just six employees and now has more than 60.
Both partners had been working in the traditional slating industry for 20 years before branching out on their own and wanted to provide a high quality service in this field. They were joined in 1989 by John Elmore, who brought a wealth of experience and contracting knowledge to the growing firm.
Today, we enjoy a reputation across Yorkshire and beyond for our commitment to craftsmanship and a new generation of Brooks, Martin and Elmore are actively involved in day-to-day operations, driving the business forward, whilst retaining its core values.
Historic and contract projects
The majority of our projects still require traditional slating or tiling skills and involve stone and random sized slates, clay pantiles and lead.
Much of our work is carried out on historic buildings and we are experts in this sector. We have been members of the NFRC (National Federation of Roofing Contractors) for more than 20 years and the firm is listed on its National Heritage Register.
Our services also include flat roofing using a wide range of products, such as built up felt, mastic asphalt, single ply membranes and liquid coatings.
Raising safety standards
We are dedicated to ensuring staff and clients are safe at all times, we have achieved the NFRC’s gold award standard for health and safety in recognition of our efforts in each of the last five years.
